

Byron Rodriguez a.k.a. “Calavera”. A Guatemalan native raised in South
Central Los Angeles was introduced to tattooing at the early age of 14 by his
friend Chino, who showed him how to make his first tattoo machine and gave
him his first tattoo.
It was then he began practicing on anyone who would let him, for free or
cheap- just so that he could tattoo.
At 24, one of his close friends, artist Manny Pascual got him an audition at
Playa Tays Tattoo studio on Crenshaw Blvd. In Los Angeles. This began his
professional career in the tattoo industry. Hardly a professional, he came
across a few artists that impacted his style and helped to develop it .Artists
like Angel Villanueva and his best friend R.I.P Dylan Flowers- aka Kasper.
Calavera especially got most of his drive and motivation from Kasper always
pushing him, challenging him to move on to the next level.
Working side by side at Shaggy’s Studio first, then Walk of Fame Tattoo in
Hollywood, C.A. For a few years Parting ways to step up to the next level in
their craft But keeping in close contact to keep their drive to motivate one
another going. Up until Kasper’s untimely passing away in February of 2007.
Calavera still keeps Kasper’s memory alive inside him, allowing his long time
friend to still drive his motivation.
Calavera looking to move up and expand as a tattoo artist has traveled
across the United States, Tattooing at numerous tattoo expos. Working along
side by side with some of the industries top tattoo artist. Making a name for
himself and letting his work speak for itself. Also carrying his skills as a tattoo
artist over into other venues. He has began drawing, painting. Already selling
some of his art work to some of his customers. So not only do they wear his
ink work but they display his art work in their home or office. Not stopping
there Calavera has even expanded into the clothing world. Creating the
